I'm not there yet, but I'm doing research on chain and gear replacement. Looks like X-Ring chain is the way to go, but what brand of chain? What brand of gear? Any preferences or success stories out there? I'm always looking for smoother and/or faster, but also something that's realistic for daily riding (not hyper light race-only stuff). I would really appreciate hearing from your experience! Good or bad! Thanks guys!

The gsxs750 comes with a 525 pitch chain and steel sprockets. The 525 pitch is thickness of both chain and sprockets. Most people go with a 520 pitch because it’s lighter and just as strong as a 525 pitch. The sprockets come in steel and aluminum. Steel is less expensive last longer but is heavier. Aluminum is lighter but wears faster and more expensive. Then you have different size sprockets that you can go with. That all depends on what you want your bike to do like more low end and mid range or more top end. The problem when you change your gearing is your speedometer will be off and to fix it you will have to purchase a healtech speedo healer. I personally went with a 520 conversion but with stock gearing. EK520MXZ Red CHAIN and Vortex steel Black sprockets. I ordered it from WWW.SPORTBIKETRACKGEAR.COM it came out to 170.00 shipped.

What I'm thinking is lower friction, long life, smooth operation. There are so many brands. Its like oil loyalties... hard to tell what is actually good thru all of the emotion/blind loyalty. And maybe it isn't that important. I think x-ring is the way to go, but $70 or $170? Same with gears.
