Hello everybody,
I have the 2018 750 and it only has 1560 miles on it since I bought brand new. Followed the break in instructions to the T and I don’t usually ride hard.
A couple of weeks ago I go noticed a strange buzzing noise coming from the front, almost under the ignition, it sounds like a thin metal sheet clinging if that makes sense, it’s like a buzz that goes along with the engine noise. I I thought it could be the key chain but it after I removed it I found out that wasn’t. I took it to the dealer and after checking the blots and nuts he said that it might be caused by the stock exhaust, causing the bike to be all choked up and it manifests at high rpm, he said it is normal for it make this noise and that it will go away after I install a slip-on! That sounded strange to me that Suzuki didn’t optimize the bike for the stock exhaust.
Does anyone know what causes this noise? So it normal or maybe part of the engine’s character? I haven’t ridden any other bike so it is had for me to compare it to anything else.

I thought it was the key chain at first and then I saw that the springs mounting my slip on to the bracket , I think there their in case of an emergency so that it can hang if it falls off somehow made a tiny buzzing noise.... they shake a tiny bit... I still have mine on...

A coupe things to check, first make sure your chain is tight and with in spec. If you have not had it adjusted since you got the the back chances are it's a little loose. A loose chain can cause all kinds of weird vibrations and sounds etc. Chains are supposed to be adjusted and checked every 500 miles. If you are unsure how to check it look here... www.gsxs.org/thread/539/clean-adjust-chainAlso this is weird but i have seen that a loose headlight bulb / metal retainer gets slightly loose can cause a weird noise only at certain rpm's. The guy at the dealership told you that line of crap about buying a slip on and it will go away, is complete BS! In reality he is saying when you put that slip on on your exhaust note will be louder and you won't hear that buzzing sound. Anytime i wanna listen for any noises i just put a rag over my exhaust outlet for a few seconds so i can hear all the engines noises. The stock pipes are so restricted you hear everything.

Thank you so much for the insight, I will check the chain and the light bulb and will let you know. I do agree with what you said with regards to the dealer’s B.S because yes, naturally, a louder exhaust note will cover any other noises but that doesn’t mean that the problem is solved.

Guys, here a couple of videos showing the same noise I am talking about. To help you understand what I am referring to and whether this is normal or not. It is even more pronounced in the second video as it starts from 7K RPM: youtu.be/2_zvQ_X06DMyoutu.be/_ZtGNsOZOmoPlease let me know what it is and if this is normal noise. Thank you guys very much in advance

Also another thing to check, is just do a walkaround and start making sure everything is tight. Check all those reflectors as well you might have a loose one vibrating.

I had my stock exhaust removed after the first day and didn't see that they did not have those as well....

Maybe it has something to do with the fuel mixture when its stock... they've tried to make them as friendly as possible with the detuned engine incorporated into it... if it's actually from how they built it, maybe just tiny imperfections in how they tuned it...
