Has anyone done this? Is it a pita? What does it sound like? Im hesitant to take off the pipe myself if it is pointless. On the other hand if it adds a little flavor to the sound of the exhaust it will eliminate the paralysis by analysis im going through on buying a different muffler

I tried to take my stock exhaust apart, it didn't fair out so well. This was after i already had my new pipe on it. So i would nix that idea, or you could drill a few 1/2'' holes in the bottom of it to get more sound. If you take the pipe off it will be obnoxiously loud and annoying trust me on this. I highly recommend the M4 exhaust i know it's like $400 but it has a very low sounding tone and doesn't get that high pitch screaming sound. Just my .02

Just my .02 I might try drilling the pipe and if I dont like it just get another pipe or plug the holes. Where exactly do you do that on the pipe?. I'm at paralysis by analysis at this point. I have watched/listened to yours and others videos repeatedly. The M4 definitely to my ears has the best sound. I go to work @ 4am so I am trying to find the closest to stock sound at idle and not too nasty until i get over 5000 on the revs. Money is a consideration but not my main one in my search. I am leaning towards one of the Danmotos just to see if I like the extra noise and then move up to something better quality wise if im ok with the extra noise. I have owned several bikes but up until now have never been interested in a different/louder muffler. Never been much of a loud pipe guy. Its just that there's something about this one that begs for a little meanness added to it

I know it's your money but why spend it twice and end up spending more on 2 pipes then you could have on 1?
The problem with the stock pipe is, the baffle is welded in lots of cutting grinding etc. I have a friend that has a fz07 and the slip on pipe for those bikes start at $700 for a cheap one, so he drilled 1/2'' holes in the bottom of the pipe to give it "more noise". So i would suggest drilling 3-4 1/2'' holes in the bottom to toward the rear. You can always drill more. Also keep in mind by drilling it's not going to free the restriction, like a aftermarket slip would. Also the stock pipe weighs about 13 lbs. The slip on weighs like 3 lbs. By the way i got mine from sportbiketrackgear.com they have top notch customer service, and very easy to talk to a person if you call them.

I vote M4. It's cheap, looks good, and sounds good. Plus, if it matters to you, M4 does racing development with Suzuki.
