Day 3 was an emotional one... enthusiasm mixed with fatigue, culminating into a brief dance. A day spent in the minutia, prepping the sheet metal for fiberglass. There's something compulsive about sheet metal shaping. I'm going to miss this part of the process. youtu.be/9BXP2fySR_g

Wow! Good job. It's good to see something like this being done with everyday tools. I think the shape you've formed there is going to look killer once smoothed off with fiberglass. Years ago on YouTube I'd seen someone who was building a sub box mix resin with Bondo to smooth thing off. It might be worth looking into.
I know it probably makes me sound a little like a sadist, but I was just waiting for that ball to pop when you were airing it up.

northernrider I've been meaning to reply, but the weekend got away from me. Thanks for the feedback! I have made quite a few things out of fiberglass and finished them off with thin coats of bondo and glazing putty. Have had great results. Example 1: I punched a hole into the dashboard of my 2005 Pontiac Vibe and mounted a screen to play movies/video games on long trips.

Example 2: I made my own fender delete for the gsxs750
