I thought this might be too basic, but then I remembered there was a time when my Dad had to show me how to change the oil. I hope it encourages someone out there to start doing some of their own maintenance. For me, it's very satisfying to take care of my bike. 2nd only to riding it. I used to tell people that I work on cars/motorcycles instead of going to counseling There is something very fulfilling about working with your hands. In this video I'm using Maxima Premium 4 oil ($25 on Amazon) and a K&N Oil Filter (about $4 on Amazon). The oil meets all of Suzuki's requirements for the GSXS750 and it is like... butter. My Dad told me many years ago that oil is oil... if it meets the requirements, its safe to use. The rest is just marketing. So far, he has been proven right. Plus, my wife would kill me if I spent $60 to $120 on a bottle of oil. I am so glad I found this stuff. youtu.be/xqF-cf6Pr0o

As you can see in this video, I just changed my oil and used maxima premium 4... it meets all of the requirements spelled out in the Suzuki manual for a gsxs750. And it was silk! After 700 miles, I noticed an uptick in vibration. I checked the oil level. It was down from the full line to the middle of the glass, between low and full. Since I have never lost oil before, I drained the oil immediately to see if I could detect engine damage. I wiped the oil-plug-magnet with a white paper towel and got only a tiny residue of light grey. The oil smelled good. Looked good. So I started some research. Did you know there us such a thing as oil evaporation? Apparently the high engine temps/pressures cause the lighter elements in the oil to burn off, vaporize and puff out the crankcase breather where they are expelled through the combustion chamber and spewed out of the exhaust. And while this oil made my bike feel better than it ever has before... smoother, silkier shifts... it doesn't appear to be able to withstand sustained abuse found in a high winding I4. Why did I buy the Maxima stuff in the first place? Cuz it met the requirements and it was only $25. So I just ordered some Amsoil 10w40, Full Synthetic. It was $60. And the stuff according to a 2006 study (its all I could find - syntheticperformanceoil.com/spo/pdf/study_of_motorcycle_oils.pdf ) was rated the overall winner against heat, sheer, trans wear, etc. It has to be better than the Maxima. I'll update this post once I swap it out and let ya know how it goes.

Make sure you don't over tighten that drain plug, the first time I did mine on this bike I cracked the pan. I usually hand torque them but for this I used the torque wrench but what they asked for was too tight and I split the aluminum pan. $250 later

18 ft lbs.... ALWAYS replace that pesky little crush washer. Yup i tried to make it a point in that video not to "over tighten" the drain plug. at 2:00 min mark...

These are great videos to be posting even though it is just the basics, everyone has to start somewhere, I really liked the video on integrating the front turn signals too.
