Greetings! Anyone had this on their bike? Them temp indicator has been 3 bars all these years...2015 bike. A short ride from office to home last week, which took less than 15mins, shot the temp up to 4...fan goes crazy fast and it drops back to 3...and goes up and down super frequent. Parked the bike and rev it up to 2.5k a few times and it shot up to 4 and started to overflow the "overflow" radiator tank...it wasn't a gush...it just flows...turned the motor off...and it kept flowing till the overflow was dry... Last mod made was.....a sticker on the undertail the night before... Had a slip on, k&n and a servo buddy installed almost a year ago... The shop said its due to the cap...starting to fail? I assumed it was the thermostat until later after some in depth research...it could possibly be due to an air lock in the thermostat housing....bleeding out the system might solve it...might... Shop replaced the cap (still under warranty). It didn't flow out coolant anymore...but it still goes up to 4 bars...i think because the cap has a higher pressure...1.3 instead of 1.1... Bleeded the system yesterday..haven't had time to test it out...probably tomorrow... Anyone else has the same symptoms?

First off check the rad fins. Some people have been known to get a little aggressive with the pressure washer when cleaning the rad and bent the fins. Hopefully that's not the issue.
I'm not sure what it's like where you ride, but after a couple of years is it possible the rad fins need cleaning. They can get plugged with bugs.
If the fins are clogged with bugs blow out what you can from the engine side with compressed air, not going right against the fins with the gun tip, but keep it close. I have a blow gun with a 6" tip that I bent 90 deg. for this purpose.
Then get some Hydrogen Peroxide, put it in a spray bottle and saturate the rad core with it. The H/P will loosen the bug gunk that has accumulated between the fins enough that you can rinse it out with a water hose and gun, not a pressure sprayer unless you are very careful and keep a respectful distance between the nozzle and the fins.
Finally after your rad is clean, go to a hardware store and buy a piece of window screen. Cut the screen to fit the rad core and tie-wrap it on.
There is also the possibility that your coolant is getting weak. I know that it's supposed to be a long life coolant, but it's easy to check.

Thanks for the input. Radiator cleaned, including the fins. Coolant is new. System bleeded. Its still happening. But its not all the time. Went up the mountain roads in the morning. It didnt happen. But it happened after coming down...

Do you have access to an ir temperature gun? Curious what the temp of the radiator inlet hose is when it's at 4. Are the fans coming on regularly at 3 bars?

Hurmm...i'll need to ask around. Fan turns as usual at 3. But when it happens, im not totally sure if the speed is as usual or its slower. But it turns. It might be that its slower but i dont have a reference as to how fast it should turn....sigh... To make it worst...its intermitten...like today...it was as normal as it should be the whole freakin day 😧

Haha...yes...its interesting...i make a living out of it. But on cars....which belongs to the companys customers... Since the bike is mine...its frustrating...i dont have time to troubleshoot it...also its kind of a mood thing...when you're pumped up...you can sit all day long to get it solved...

If you are moving at highway speeds it stays about the right operating temperature then your radiator and your pump are doing what they are suppose to be doing and its most likely the fan. I would inspect the relay. I think the fuel pump relay is the same as the Fan relay, switch it and see what happens. Because only other thing I can think of is there is something wrong with the temp sensor itself or there is air getting into the system and the sensor itself is not reading properly. If that is the case you have bigger problems than the temperature.
If its not happening all the time it seems to point more towards a electronic issue.
Just my input which you are probably already aware of since you work with vehicles.
Let me know if you determine what it is.

And issue solved. Didnt want to mess around with the bike since it was still under warranty. Decided to send it back to the place i bought the bike. After 15mins of checking....it was due to the thermostat. Boy did the first dealer get a good piece of my mind....it was seriously a waste of time...sigh

Glad you figured it out! That will help everybody here. Gauge goes to 4, check the thermostat!

Yes sir. At any given time if you catch a glimpse of 4 bars...it ain't normal anymore....am worried it might spoil the fan motor. When it goes to 4, fan speed goes high. After a few cycle of 3 and 4 bars...it stays high speed. Hopefully it doesn't screw up the fan motor. Fingers crossed 😆
