So a while back I installed an HID in my ride. It was easy and fun. There were a few set backs tho. Cheap kit from eBay was a good start, but eventually needed to be upgraded. Then one day I noticed a dark area in the emitted light pattern. Well, that was the end of that. The intense heat from the bulb had fogged the area of the deflector immediately above it. So this winter I will be opening it and installing a projector. I have nothing to lose. Worse comes to worse I replace the housing, which I would be doing anyway. Well here is the original posts. Enjoy!

So I got an itch to increase my night riding comfort. For me that means more light. So I hit up eBay and found the cheapest / best h4 HID kit I could find. I know that's a double edged sword but, eh if I like it I can buy a better kit down the road. Here is what I found: eBay item # 400951960214 Then I waited.

So... I got the kit and had to figure out how to do it. I put together a couple of videos, and took some pictures. I am not a photographer by any means. I am a mechanic by trade. I also jacked up the how much and where in the videos. So, here goes the fun. I think I covered everything. Gsx-s750 factory headlight on road: Gsx-s750 factory headlight: Gsx-s750 headlight access: I had to make a harness and run it up front. If you haven't raised it yet, here's a blip on the fuel tank. Gsx-s750 Fuel Tank: I also found a great place to hide the ballast. So here is the kit and a tip on installing the bulb. A look at the goods: Here is a look at the final install. And this is how it turned out. After riding it for a night and adjusting, I like it. It was worth the 25 bucks, and only took a few hours to install. The install would have gone faster if I was not documenting it. Gsx-s750 hid first turn on: Gsx-s750 HID 6000k on road: Thanks for reading!

I just bought a different style ballast after doing some research. Hopefully I will get it in tomorrow and see if there is a difference. The HID kit I bought is OK, but not the "wow" I was looking for. I need more and will find it!

Ok, it's been a few days now and the headlight has started moving during heavy acceleration. The headlight that came with the set is a flip up style h4 not the slide style. I've got two other ballasts now to try, just waiting on a d2s adapter.

So I picked up a couple of OEM 03 BMW ballasts for $10 at a local junkyard. The video does not do it justice. Just thrilled with it! HID with BMW ballast: One of the ballasts: The light up close:

There were some other posts after and in between about why I didn't install a projector, and what kind of damage it caused. Let's start with why I didn't install of a projector first. You need to bake the housing. I just bought the bike. Nope. Now time for the damage. Eh.. I notice it, but if someone else rode it without knowing, I highly doubt it would even come up. I tried wiping the fog off and just started laughing. Of course that wouldn't work. Anyhow, I'll continue this in a couple months. There are plenty of miles that need to be logged first before snow takes over.

I've picked up another housing to use while I alter the stock one. I picked up a 3" projector to install into it. I'll get a step by step and parts list out once I get rolling on it.
