I was just shy of 8000! I have since gotten her back with a 100% completely replaced transmission. All the way to the shift linkage! Thank the lord it was all warranty too.

So, my bike has started not displaying gears! Definitely electrical, I hope. Will be sorting this out this weekend. I'll let you guys know what I find.

I'm dealing with similar issues with my 2015 gsx s750. I have about 7,500 miles on it and recently have noticed the gear indicator being off. It occurs both while stopped and while riding as well as while hot and cold; it will either display I am in a higher or lower gear for a second then catch itself and show the actual gear I'm in. I haven't noticed it causing any mechanical issues but I'm worried it's messing around with the fueling as it may think it's in a different gear then it actually is. I'm hoping that the gps just needs a cleaning... I'd be devistated if there's a bigger underlying issue or if it causes any damage as a result of a faulty gear position sensor..

I'm getting a bit of a glitch with my gear indicator now. It can't decide if it's in first or second and alternates between the two. Only happens in the morning, and haven't had any issues with the transmission. Even if I'm in neutral it will bounce from 1 to 2, and sometimes when I'm riding down the road just out of the driveway.
It'll read properly after I hit second and beyond though, and will read properly usually from that point on.

When the shift lever is not fully engaged, you will get stuck between two gears. I found this to be the case when I was about 900 mi between chain adjustments. Once I adjusted the chain, the bike became less sloppy and seems to have less false neutrals.

I'm not having any transmission issues. Never a false neutral, never popping out of gear and never missing a solid engage from neutral. Just the indicator dances from 1 to 2 in the mornings until I hit 3rd gear. Then it's like "oh, right" and all is well for the day.

I've gotten used to it on my bike. Am going to replace the sensor at some point, but half of my bikes don't have an indicator, so I'm pretty used to riding without it. Mine only acts up when she's cold.

I'm not to concerned about the display of the indicator, as I learned and rode a bike without one for the past 3 years. My primary concern is with the fueling; being that it's all electrical and what not, I'm worried that the computer will fuel the bike in the gear it thinks it's in as opposed to the gear it is actually engaged in. I know it's only a second between realizing it's wrong and fixing itself, but I'm just thinking about repetition and prolonged occurrences.

I don't think the indicator reads for the ECM. Pretty sure that is entirely a function of RPM, throttle position, and engine load.
