So here's the story
Pulling out of the drive way this morning & had to put my feet down & got my left pant stuck in my foot peg & down she goes all of a mile an hour or so.
Minor cosmetic scuffing on the bike but now it won't start.
Turn the key on & it comes to life but won't fire. Sort of behaving like it would with the kickstand down & in gear.
Looked @ the manual & it wasn't any help.
Figured I would start here rather than @ a dealer any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks Tim

try unhooking battery for 30 or so seconds. Could also be tip over sensor

Guy's
Thanks for the replyès
I was thinking about the clutch sensor & kickstand but not the tip over sensor.
Will disconnect the battery & give it a try.
I hope it works as the weather in ottawa has finally gotten nice, bought friggin time frost warnings last week.
Hopefully I will report back with some good news & a set of shorties on order...
Thanks Tim

Ran into the same issue when I dropped mine. All I had to do was click the red switch back and forth. She fired right up after. Goodluck!

Just disconnected the battery & no go. I've clicked the on off switch a dozen times or so & still nothing. She went down on the clutch side so I'm sorta leaning towards a clutch sensor? Tried so many things friday morning I can't remember what I did anymore. I've started to look for some sort of diagnostic tool but not having much luck as yet. Even if I can find out what's wrong I'll still probably have to trailer it into a dealer. Regards Tim

It looks & sounds fine I can hear the fuel pump & all the lights are ok. When I pull the clutch lever in & press the ignition button nothing happens except the headlight dims a little as if it want's to start. I'll pull it outta the garage later this afternoon & look @ the wiring. Tim

Have you tried a rolling start? Did you check your starter relay?

I messaged 8000 for a schematic too. Ash Thanks. I was just doing a little bit of reading on another forum & with out some sort of schematic it's going to be a little complicated. If you do get some schematics don't be in a rush to post them as I don't have my meter @ home till tomorrow @ the earliest. I now have a 2nd body available that can push me down the driveway. I'll report back if I have any sucess. Tim

Sweet, if she starts with a push, then it narrows it down allot.

If the fuel pump primes, transmission in neutral, kickstand down, and still no start- look to the clutch sensor. With the kickstand up and the bike in gear, the pump should still prime. If you can rule out the kickstand sensor, you'll be one step closer. Same with the neutral sensor, which I think is even less likely to be the culprit. Try turning on the bike while it's in gear and the stand is down. The pump shouldn't prime, but once you click it into neutral, the pump should prime. That would rule out your neutral switch. Can we get a picture of any clutch lever area damage? I've seen people bypass the clutch lever sensor by simply connecting the two wires that come out of the switch together. People do this to allow starting in neutral without the clutch pulled in, but on our bikes, that would mean the bike would start in gear and lurch forward if you didn't have the clutch pulled in. (It's also done on dualsports like the DRZ so one is less likely to be stranded out in the trails from a clutch side spill.) Here are the wiring schematics. imgur.com/aqyJ6Mcimgur.com/HMx0du3

I'll try to get a clutch photo up later today. Don't know how much play was in the clutch lever before but it does seem (to me anyway) to have a little to much. Hopefully with the help of your schematics I can figure it out. I'll go over some of it again but I think I can rule some of it out already.
I'll have my multi meter @ home tomorrow & should be able to make some sort of progress.
Thanks again
Tim
