Hey guys, new to the forum. I just purchased a used 2015 GSX-S750 with 7k miles. As far as I know the previous owner purchased it from a shop, rode it maybe 200 miles and stored it at the end of the season. It has been sitting in a garage under a tarp for about 8 months. The bike runs fine, has to warm up for about 45 seconds on a cold start for the RPMs to smooth out. Tends to idle at 1200 RPMs on a cold start but stutters a bit if throttle is applied when still cold. I've put about 400 miles on the bike in the 5 days I have had it and deep cleaned it yesterday. I noticed a bit of rust under the passenger foot pegs which I knocked out with some rust dissolving gel and recoated with chain wax until I can pick up some rustoleum. I got the service records from the shop it was sold from and found out that the oil and tires were replaced right before the previous owner purchased it so they've got 600 miles on them. Tires still have release agent coming off of them so I know they're good. Oil looks good as well. Bike was filthy, chain is rusted. I've cleaned it twice with maxima chain cleaner on a cold chain the first time, and maxima chain cleaner + WD40 on a hot chain the second time. I've gotten a great deal of rust off but it's definitely still rusty. Sprocket looks good. Lubricated with chain wax, and lubricated the pegs, and all needed parts. Otherwise the bike looks clean. I am concerned about the rear seat. There is a big gap between the seat and the bike and water can easily get in, aside from covering when not in use, what are there some things I can do to prevent water intrusion when in use? Is there supposed to be a gasket there? Any other advice you may have would be greatly appreciated, for any aspect of the bike. Thank you in advance.
