I've been going on about how the OEM seat is uncomfortable for me on long rides, so, I decided to do something about it. I tried a Tourtech gel seat pad (would you believe, incidentally, that this pad is'nt waterproof or even showerproof!.When it rained it was like sitting on a wet sponge) any way i'm going off subject a little. i looked around, high and low on the web, and nothing stood out.I went on you tube and just happened to view a review on the Kawasaki vulcan S 650 cruiser. Now I'm not a cruiser guy but wow, look at that seat!, it an armchair compared to the suzy. So to Ebay i went. Just so happens a guy is selling one,Used. So I put a cheeky offer in and won.Two days later it arrived, And here it is. So is it a success? Man its a lot more padding and yes it works , and the back bit is great when accelerating. The height from the ground has gone up about an inch from OEM. BUT!. Obviously i had to make brackets to make it fit (need a lot of patience- trial and error) but the thing is- I made the brackets WRONG, yes its secure and fitted right but the brackets should have enabled the seat to sit more forward. let me explain, look at the image and imaging the seat was just laid on top of the bike, What needs to happen is to push the back of the seat more to the front,so that the front of the seat sits more up the tank, get me?. So. when i get time, its back to my garage to make some new brackets.
The pillion seat has obviously been removed and in the picture there is a temporary plastic 'blank .I have ordered a cheap pillion seat which I intend to sort of shorten (Both original rear and rider seats are stored for when i restore the bike back to OEM to sell it) The shortened pillion seat is purely for cosmetic reasons and won't be used, its only to fill the 'gap'. (the OEM original rear seat wont fit with the new Vulcan saddle) Might look like the dog's ******s but hey, gives me something to do,and when I get it right with new brackets, it will be worth the effort!.
