I changed my oil today and had to poke a hole in the old filter with a screwdriver to get it off. That thing was on tight. I managed to poke a small 8-10mm hole in the oil cooler conveniently placed 1/2 inch from the oil filter. I franticly ordered a replacement cooler from an 04-05 gsxr600 ($15) since it's the same exact part number featured on many websites. I also put JB Weld putty on the hole.
Will the JB Weld be enough for this? Or should I replace the actual cooler. Do I need to drain all the oil when I change the oil cooler?

I can try when I get home. The hole is the size of a small flathead screwdriver.

It should work for a while. I would think oil would leak out of there. You should get a strap wrench or a proper filter wrench for future changes. Can get generic bikemaster one or suzuki one.

I have a 2005 Gsxr750 and I don’t have an oil cooler don’t remember seeing one on my 2015 gsxs750 either. Are you sure you don’t mean the radiator or oil pan?

I know what your taking about now Sorry. I wouldn’t risk using the jb weld imagine that thing leaking and you get it on your rear tire. I would just wait and replace it.

It should last for one ride if you're fiending haha. Prolly not smart to gamble with the possibility of the jbweld failing unless you are trying to take up a new hobby. Course, I'm the guy that had to get the bike towed after messing with the clutch.

It's just like changing an oil filter, try not to punch a hole in the new oil filter Yes, you'll have to drain the oil and coolant, prepare some kitty litter as even then some oil and coolant will leak. BTW, on a 2015 you were almost due for a coolant flush, so don't even bother trying to reuse the coolant. I've been using the Honda blue coolant that you can get at a Honda auto dealership, same stuff as the Suzuki long life coolant but way cheaper (at least around here).

That sucks! Anytime you try to seal something from the outside, think about a tire. Can you patch a tire from the outside? The internal pressure will push the patch off. Same thing with silicone and jb weld. Internal pressures with push past. I would change it before riding it again. I prefer gambling only on the weather.

arawn i only have 2600 miles on the bike. I bought it in January from a dealer with 1400 miles. It had two previous owners prior to that. Am I still due for coolant?
