Hey everybody,
Just looking for a little exhaust conversation, I have read the posts on the forum already and I'm interested if anybody has anything else that they would like to share. My things are if I am going to put money into my bike, I would like to get something out of it. I know you can't expect much from a slip on, but I refuse to pay money to reduce my output, like I have heard happening from some. I like the idea of the Akrapovic Megaphone because it is loud, lightweight, and most of all cheap but with the downfall of being ugly as sin. The second thing that I require out of my exhaust is that it has to match the black of the bike and look good. I'm not about to hang some ugly can off the side of the bike if I don't have to.
Beyond exhaust, I also will be doing something with the computer, weather it be a power commander or an ECU flash, potentially I'll get it dyno tuned if I catch the wild hair. Just wondering what results anybody else has had with their experiences.
Thirdly, I would like some input on what color scheme to go with. Blue: Blue is my color... everything is always blue with me Green: I have a green pickup Red: Red is sexy and it already has a red "S" on it Gold: Gold is more unique and it would be cool to tie in the gold forks (which should be black, or at least gray, to match the rest of the bike)
My wish list consists of: Exhaust Power Commander Quick Shifter Shorty levers Chin Spoiler Probably a lot more as next season rolls around and I decide I need to pee away more money

Dothedew pulled his cat, is my next step. After hearing the issues other people have had either exhaust kits, and looking at the specs, I don't see any reason to replace our header pipes. There are a bunch of slip-ons that sound great on our bike. I went cheap with my first can and ended up loving it. Dyno tuning is the way to go. No two engine are the same. Scooter1640 has done this and tho the gains may not sound crazy, 5 hp increase at the wheels is huge!

As for your list, I can't comment on the megaphone but I've heard it has much to be desired. The akrapovik sounds amazing and I'm sure the yoshimura does as well. As for power the akra will produce the best results but definitely needs a tune to get the most out of it.
A nice tip to save money in levers, I got the rideit levers for the gsr750 (European version of our bike) they were only $35 on amazon and they fit and look great.

As I work my way to the end of my build, I have learned a few things. One is the ecu is the easiest hp gain for the money. There is alot available overall for the bike that isn't being used. The next thing I would invest is a power commander. It will get the most out of the fuel injection system. Unless you are going a full exhaust, the gains are minimal. You are basically paying for looks and sound. The next thing on the list should be brakes, they definitely need help

Well with my drop at the end of the season I decided while I was swapping the bars I was going to do new levers, mirrors, indicator lights to LED ones (with LED flasher relay) and I'm going with a Black / Blue theme. The levers I ordered are grey which match a large part of the bikes plastics, with blue adjusters. I'm planning on getting LED marker lights for the headlight and eventually a projector kit. I'll be reprinting all the decals on the bike to reflect the blue accent I'm going to be doing. I'll try and figure out where I can add blue wrapping film sometime this summer.
I really want to do the brake upgrade, but I'm going to wait for the economy to recover here in Canada (if it ever does) because all the sales are out of the states for the parts I need, and paying $40 shipping + roughly 40% in exchange is just not happening.
I'm looking into a windscreen too, but with the dollar so bad I'm going to wait. Seeings how Powerbronze does specials for us I was leaning more their direction.
If the economy recovery never happens then my bike will just stay the way it is, besides the current line-up.

Didn't realize it was that bad up there. Glad to see your turning a negative situation into a great opportunity. It will look pretty slick with blue decals on it. I'm going to swap my maker lights to turn signals when I finally get the minerals to project my headlight.

I swapped my marker lights to turn signals, it looks slick as hell if I do say so myself. So much cleaner than factory garbage looking signals and even more sleek than any aftermarket signal you could bolt on. I used diodedynamics.com brand HP5 194 style bulbs in cool white and they are pretty damn bright. I want cars to really known im passing when I'm on the I-10 interstate at night since its 6 lanes full of idiots.

Do you mean the marker lights in the headlight are your turn signals?
That would be so illegal here for me to do that lol. But it sounds slick, would look killer

Yes exactly what I did, the headlight is always on so one could argue that is the marker light as well as the headlight.
I can make it so the marker lights stay on and then just blink when I hit the blinker but I didn't want the led bulbs to stay on as a marker light.
