To start off, this started soon after the first oil change to full synthetic, no issues there at all. Once I hit 9k RPM I get a loud metallic type buzzing at the engine top end, seemingly near the valves.
The plastic shroud has been modified, that only slightly buzzes but is not this extra noise. Any thoughts or feedback would be most appreciated. I've had many shops say it's just a vibration and it should be fine. Still under the 1 year warranty.

Exhaust leak?

First off it's not really good on the engine in neutral and hold it at those rpm's, but i realize you are trying to find a vibration. Does it vibrate the same in gear going down the road as it does in neutral in the clip? Or does it get worse or less? Second, I would lift the tank, as it is on a hinge, make sure you run some of your gas out of your bike so the tank is lighter and you won't get any spillage. Once the tank is up, i would just start searching around for anything loose. Begin tightening things up.
Lastly, I would just begin going around the bike wiggling and tugging on different things and begin tightening any bolts. I know this sounds ridiculous and not much help, but sometimes you have to start with the basics.
On a side note my bike doesn't buzz at those rpm's but i don't continually ride it those rpms all the time. Hope this helps.

yeah it does this at 9k and above while in gear or sitting on stand, usually I don't hit that RPM range either but I do enjoy a good run up every now and then. Sounds like it's something loose and vibrating, but I just wanted to be sure it's not the engine internals. Exhaust is all solid, that was the first things I've checked.
Maybe it's the access ports at the engine top end for valve clearance checks. I'll have to pull the tank up and do more searching.

I get the same thing. It comes in at a lower rpm but sounds like it's coming from the ass end. Will have to pull out plasma cutter and sawzall when i get home.

You could try listening to the motor while at idle to see if it is making any horrible sounds. Use a broomstick. Touch one end on the motor in the spot where you wanna listen and the other end gently against your ear. At the top of the motor, some consistent valve tapping/chatter is normal mixed with some chain noise. Listen for anything inconsistent. Something that breaks the smooth rhythm. Move the broom stick around and listen to other locations. Its not a bad idea to get used to what it sounds like so when something does change you can know if its off.
Hopefully its just a piece of plastic buzzing and not internals.
Happy hunting!

Did you remember to tighten that top screw in the middle of the air box?

Never took that screw out so might not be the issue I ended up crashing 3 weeks ago, sadly insurance called it a total loss even though it was 99% cosmetic Been on the hunt for a used bike, done with dealerships Two friends were recording, my gopro battery was pulled in the crash so no actual video of me going down

Really sorry to hear about your crash. But at least it sounds like you escaped serious injury. Let us know what you end up buying!

Thanks for the messages everyone, yeah I made it out safe which was lucky. Target fixation is a truly hard thing to break. My buddy sp3ak and slowped both recorded, slowped was the one who went down in front of me.

Damn that sucks, glad you are alright, bikes can be replaced people can't. "Well not yet" anyway. Let us know what you end up getting.

Damn, slowped crashing like that with no gear on. That video tore my heart up seeing your '16 get totalled as that's the same year as mine. Good to see yall got out with little damage. That target fixation is a mother.

Yeah SlowPed is my good buddy and co-worker and he's all about some gear once he gets back on the road as he realizes how lucky he was. Ironically we were on the way to Cycle Gear to get him a new helmet and jacket. Sonic would have been in a bad place without his gear and I'm glad he's alright. I have a video coming out on my channel Saturday of riding his busted bike

Shitty luck. Target fixation is a hard one. If you ever think your going wide, dont look wide. Look in lean hard. Better to low side then go off a cliff. Get well soon mate.
