Did you guys reuse the rubber boot that goes around the bulb? Mine has a odd shaped heat sink. Just need some ideas.

Which bulb Did you pick up? I remember back when I was tinkering with hid bulbs they had a rear section that you could rotate and disconnect for install.

I wanted to comment on the OP's question. I did re-use the rubber boot. The LED I got had a base that set into the housing and clipped in. Then the bulb goes in and rotates a quarter turn. Before I put the bulb in I re-installed the rubber boot and just kind of pressed it out of the way of being in direct contact with the heat sink on the bank of the LED. After a couple hundred miles of riding nothing has moved and nothing looks like it's melting at all.

Yea you need bulbs that can rotate the heatsink or light diffuser out so it can pass thru the boot.
