Just was curious if anyone knew who makes the suzuki oil. The owners manual says to use 10w-40 suzuki oil, it is not to specific on if you can run synthetic or just regular 10w-40.
Gixxis is due for a service, and was gonna use oil other than suzuki, but wasn't sure if the suzuki oil had a friction modifier in it for the clutch plates. Also anyone running any different oil filters than oem?
I know the K&N 138 fits, and never had any problems out of any of their filters in the past.
By the way my dealer works the same hours i do so a pain to get to them, also they don't really carry the oil as they push "amsoil" on you. That and i don't care for them much either.

You do not want to use an oil with friction modifiers in it. they will cause clutch slippage.
You can use any JASO MA certified oil. Most motorcycle 4T(4stroke) oils are JASO MA ( Some are JASO MB and these are low friction oils that wouldn't work well with your clutch). I"ve been running Amsoil Metric 10W40 since my 6000km(4000mi) oil change but like I said, any oil with JASO MA certification can be used and won't affect your warrenty.
By 6000km the engine is broken in and you're fine to use synthetic oil.
I have no advise on the filters. The only ones I've used are OEM. If it's just an issue with your dealer, order them online.

I understand about the JASO oil, but my big question was if anyone knew who makes the oil for suzuki. I am a tech for a BRP dealer, which the engine oil is saedoo/skidoo XPS synthetic blend. However when we get it in by freight truck comes on a castrol pallet. Also all the paperwork is from castrol. In all it is a 5w-40 castrol syn blend oil branded as XPS syn blend. But now with the new sticker and dealer cost now about $12 a qt. That's why i was wondering who makes suzuki's oil for them.

I use full synthetic Valvoline 10w40 motorcycle oil in all of my bikes. Have never had an issue.

Thanks for all the replies, i did some digging and here goes. So i talked to my dealer rep, who called a suzuki rep, that knew a pac rep which knew a engineer that got back to me and said "KENDAL" makes suzuki's oil for them. If this helps anyone that is interested that's the best i can do.

Also a quick tech tip on changing your filter to keep from spilling oil on your exhaust. I used a old rv antifreeze bottle, you could also use a coke bottle, wiper fluid bottle etc. Cut a big section of it using the curved sides to your advantage to place under the filter over the exhaust. I attached a couple pis for reference. Hope this helps everyone out. Attachments:
