Hey guys, just thought I'd post up a recent development problem I'm having with my bike.
It started Friday evening. Everything seemed fine and dandy - I went to work, I went home after work. An hour or so later I decided to go for a ride and wear out the last bit of my rear tire before replacing it at 6000km (I must really like to twist that throttle ) But for some reason my bike would not start.
Key in the ignition, switched on - bike in neutral - I was expecting to hear the system cycle and get ready to start, however there was no cycling and the display just said "CHEC" like it would if you had it in gear with the kickstand down, or with the stop switch in the off position. I double checked my stop swtich, it was in the run position - I put it in gear and then back into neutral. Turned the key off and waited a minute then turned it back on. Nothing was working. I checked all my fuses and replaced the one labelled for ignition and no change. I checked all my other fuses and they were working according to my voltmeter.
After half an hour and feeling defeated I retired and played video games all night. In the morning I had a dentist appointment but had time to stop into the dealer to inquire about said problem, but I was going to take a video before I left. Except in the morning it worked fine. So I took the bike to the dentist hoping to have the problem replicate itself. After the dentist it still started, so I took it for a ride through the hills - after the hills I needed fuel so I stopped to fill up. I was hoping it wouldn't start there because I was literally across the street from the dealership. No dice, the bike fired up with no sign of issues. So I went for another run through different hills and seen a nice set of trails I thought would be nice to ride down. I shut down the bike and went for a short hike to see if I would be okay to ride back up the hill without dirt tires - it looked perfectly fine and should prove to be a fun ride. Hopped on my bike and ta-dunnnnn. No cycle. And then it dawns on me, I rode out to the farthest point of town with no back-up plan.
Not my brightest moment. But I know people and had some help - we trailered it to the dealership and the first thing the service guy says "Yeah it's weird, this is the second case like this today." So it's an issue with our local Suzuki's at least, or just two isolated cases from the same dealer. He then went on the blame my aftermarket levers for causing the problem and requested I drop off the stock levers so they can realize how silly that sounds. It was almost 5 at this time so I couldn't make the round trip, so I'll have to wait till Tuesday morning to drop everything off.
I'm also getting the tire replaced while it's there. I went with the Bridgestone S20 Evo to sorta match the front tire, and once I've burned through this one I'll get a set of Michelin Pilot Road 4's to handle my road duty with some sporty riding.
