Hello all!
New to this forum; long time member of other forums when they fit my toys (e.g., RAM 2500 forum, Corvette forum, Suzuki Volusia forum, Ninja 650 forum, Charger forum).
I am in the final stages of narrowing down my next bike and I keep coming back to the GSX S750 which is why I joined there. I'm moving up from my Ninja 650. While it may seem like a small jump, specs say it's over 50% more horsepower and torque, and a bit more handling oriented. I'd be interested if anyone has any experience with both.
The problem is the color. I just don't like blue; I like red.
My thinking is to get a black GSX 750Z and convert it to red. Red is made only in the non-ABS version and without getting into a long debate about it, I prefer to have ABS. All of the parts appear to be interchangable according to the parts catalog online (fender, headlight trim, side cowling, and rear trim by the seat). I'm not going to change the tank, that's just a bit too much in terms of cost.
I think I could sell the brand new takes offs for probably at least 50% of list price and recoup some of the investment. Does that seem reasonable?
Has anyone else done this?
Am I missing anything? Thanks all!
Jeff

Not sure if this helps or not, but I came from a Yamaha FZ6R, which is a 600cc similar to the ninja 650. I wouldn't say it feels 50% faster lol... Maybe 25% faster.
It handles very well around town, much better than the Yamaha. Gas is about the same.
Mine is black with the ABS.
Let me know if you have any questions!

I think 2018 offered a red one.

Just buy the black bike and get it wrapped in whatever color you want. much cheaper than buying all new body panels.

Thanks all for the thoughts! I did think about wrapping and talked to a friend of mine who owns a large wrapping company in Indy (www.dontdrivenaked.com) and he said it can definitely be done but it's a bit more than you expect for the size to do it will due to all the curves. Labor becomes more than parts. They do incredible work; he once matched the factory graphics on my 27 Fountain onto the side of my Ram.
